It's day 17 of growth of my two little radish plants. I'm finding myself having to frame a further away shot of the plants to keep the entirety of them in frame. But that's a good sign since it means they're growing big and healthy! I realize too that if these actually turn into full grown radishes, it'll probably look a bit silly having only two radishes. That's not even a meal. Maybe a light snack. But I actually have some more radish plants growing on my apartment balcony. I'll some pictures of those later on. There isn't nearly as much direct sunlight on the balcony as it is facing North. I actually started some of the radishes on the balcony before the two featured here and they haven't grown nearly as much either due to that lack of sunlight. With the changing the of the seasons, there is a few hours of some direct sunlight early evening and some early morning but mostly just some bright indirect light. Anyway, let's check out the photos from today. I've included a close-u of one of the plants so we can get a look at the second set of true leaves that are quickly growing. It's also interesting taking a close-up look at the embryonic leaves too.
The radishes have been growing for 31 days at this point from the day I plopped the seeds into the dirt. As of day 31, I've noticed that the cotyledons, or embryonic leaves, for both plants have finally started to yellow and die. I was curious how long these would last. They've grown very large throughout the life of the plants thus far too. The radish bulbs do seem to be plumping up nicely too. I'm excited to see what they look like on the day I decide to pluck them from the dirt. I'm really curious to see if there's much more to them than meets the eyes (above the dirt in this case).
